Official Team Gear is the creation of two friends, Eric Whitten and Ben Vogt. Eric and Ben have been close friends since attending high school at Ouachita Parish High School (Go Lions!) and they both share a passion for college athletics. Eric graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a bachelors degree in General Studies (‘99) and a Masters in History (‘04). Ben graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing in 2001. After years of working in various jobs they both decided to find something they could build together that would utilize their talents and benefit faithful fans of both institutions. This is how OfficialTeamGear.com came into existence.

One other person who has had a direct hand in forming Official Team Gear is Joe Bondurant. Joe graduated from then NLSC in 1967. He was a 3 year letter winner in football for the Indians and selected as permanent team captain along with Charlie Rhoner in his senior year. He also earned All Gulf States Conference Team honors that season and is now a lifetime member of the “L” Club at ULM. He has since retired twice, once from the U.S. Army as a Colonel, and in 2008 he retired as an educator in the state of Louisiana after having most recently been a principal at Franklin Parish High School.

OfficialTeamGear.com is a retail website that focuses on non-BCS and FCS colleges. For years as fans, Ben, Eric and Joe had a hard time finding quality merchandise for their teams. The only outlet for merchandise was local bookstores that had very limited selections and access. They saw that there was a real need for something bigger and at a better price.
